2025 Updated Rotax Parts Catalogue
March 9, 2025The world of karting is about to change. When I started karting back in 1994, data systems were extremely basic—just an RPM tachometer and a temperature probe. You could press a button to save two RPM points, and that was about it. Fast forward to today, and we have GPS, track mapping, and advanced data sensors—everything you could ask for. However, while these systems provide an overwhelming amount of data, making sense of it requires a level of expertise that many drivers and teams may not have.
Over the past few years, Rotax partnered with a data company to develop a system that collects karting data and calculates a driver score—a performance rating out of 100% based on cornering speeds and G-forces through turns. I had the opportunity to use it a few times at the Grand Finals with drivers, and the results were impressive. The fastest drivers consistently scored around 94%, while those further back were in the 89-91% range. It provided a clear, objective measure of performance, showing exactly where improvements could be made.
At the time, this technology was prohibitively expensive, costing thousands of dollars per unit, and requiring the purchase of at least two units along with an annual license.
Now, everything has changed. Introducing Rotax Trax—a consumer-friendly product that will be a game-changer for every driver. This system helps you identify your limits so you can push harder and improve. Check out the PDF for more details, and don’t be surprised if you start seeing Trax on karts everywhere—regardless of engine type.
As a team manager, I see this as an incredible tool for drivers to compare their performance instantly. Since I started using it, I’ve noticed far fewer complaints about kart and engine packages—because now, the data speaks for itself.
